Horsepower Research Building 3,000HP LS.

September 25, 2017 / by Evan Perkins

Engine outputs just keep going up. The secret sauce is staying on top of cutting edge technology in machining and materials. This 3,000hp LS build takes advantage of market-leading products to do exactly that.

10 years ago, 1,000 horsepower was a BIG deal. Fast forward to today and speed innovation has yet to slow down. 2,000hp cars prowl the streets, and even more power is just around the corner. Our friends at Engine labs spotted this monster of a machine being built by Horsepower research which is pushing power limits even further.

This Wiseco piston uses a sturdy 2618 aluminum alloy, tool-steel pins, and a hard anodizing process to withstand 3,000 horsepower of abuse.

Learn more about piston coating technology.

The LS-based engine is rooted in a Dart Machinery LS Next iron block and is being built to produce a planet-twisting 3,000 horsepower via a pair of very large turbos and a healthy diet of alcohol fuel. For more info on the epic build, see the full story on Engine Labs' website.
